October 24-28, 2016 Week 10

Let's hear it for the nice weather!  YAY!  We are loving it because it's so nice when we go out to recess.  I hope you all enjoyed your fall weather this past weekend too!

This week we will read a realistic fiction story called "The Farmer in the Hat."  Our reading skills are to read long a words; read soft c, soft g words; recognize cause and effect; identify proper nouns; and practice Saxon phonics.

In Math we will continue to work on place value up to 99. We will use manipulatives, draw pictures and compare and order numbers up to 99.

In Science we will explore force and motion.  We will test objects and decide how they move, is it push or pull? We will also use magnets to explore movement.

In Social Studies for the next couple of weeks we will learn about American Symbols and remember traditions.   We will identify symbols, traditions, customs, anthems, and mottoes of America. We will explore what celebrations we have in America.  We will make a Bald Eagle, American Flag, Liberty Bell, and the Statue of Liberty.
