March 27-31, 2017 Week 29

Well we did it again!  We set a school record!  We won the first, second, and THIRD nine weeks Reading Hot Shot Basketball Competition!  Way to go boys and girls for hooping it up!  They are some great shooters!  WOWIE WOW WOW!!!

This week we are reading "A Southern Ranch," it is an Expository Text that tells about real people, places, and events.  Our reading skills are to blend and read words with vowel digraphs -ie, -igh; read words with consonant patterns kn, wr; identify facts and details in a story;  recognize adjectives; and practice Saxon Phonics words and fluency passages.

In Math we will identify 3D shapes.  We will identify vertices and faces of geometric shapes.  We will learn how to create different shapes when putting them together.  Ask your child the difference between a 2D and 3D shape.

In Science we will continue to explore the characteristics of Living and Nonliving Things.  We will be able to explain what makes an organism living and what makes it nonliving.



In Social Studies we will work on map skills and identify the 4 Cardinal Directions.

March 6-10, 2017 Week 27

Come see us on Tuesday, March 8 at Open House!  We have been working very hard and would like for you to come and see some of the things that we have been doing in class.   

We will not have homework this week but please keep reading every night at home.  

We will not have a new reading basal story this week.  We will reread "Cinderella" and work on theme, compound words, adjectives, vowel digraph ea, adding endings to words and practice Saxon Phonics.

In Math we will review Time to the hour and half-hour.  We will also practice math facts and work on 2 digit addition.


In Science we will review recycling and play a recycling game.

In Social Studies we will learn the difference between needs and wants and identify goods and services.

              We read the book "Pinkalicious" and made "Pinkalicious cupcakes!  Yummy!  






            We played math games during Math Primetime!



                   YAY to Aiwa! She will recieve an AR shirt on Tuesday for earning 25 pts!

We brought in objects and sorted them into categories of paper, plastic, metal and glass.







We had so much fun walking to the store.  We had a math and social studies lesson all rolled into one!  We learned about spending money (and tax), needs and wants, and goods and services!  The boys and girls were excellent!   
 Choices Choices...Real life Financial Literacy







Farm Bureau came to talk to us about planting seeds.  We planted lima beans and corn!  We also learned about cotton and some foods that are cooked in cotton seed oil.
