February 12-16, 2018 Week 24

I hope that everyone stayed warm this weekend!  I'm excited for a warm day to walk to the store this week.  It was way to cold last Thursday to walk. We have our fingers crossed for warmer weather this week!

We will read "Where Are Our Animal Friends?"  It is a drama or play that is intended to be acted out.  The reading skills are to read words with comparative endings -er, -est; draw conclusions; identify contractions with not; consonant pattern -dge (soft j sound like in fudge, bridge); Saxon Phonics

In Math we will continue Fractions and identify parts of a set (Example 2 out of 4 are red)  We will use M &M's, Skittles, and Smarties in our fraction lessons.  We will read the books "When the Doorbell Rang", "Give Me Half" and "Fraction Action" to help students understand fractions.

In Science we will identify things that are living and nonliving.

In Social Studies we will learn about historical figures such as Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver, and Richard Allen.  We will also go back and review facts learned about Martin L. King Jr, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
