November 27- December 1, 2017 Week 15

Welcome back to school!  I hope that everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving break!  I can't believe this is the last week of November and Friday it will be December!  WOW! WOW! WOW!

Our Christmas party will be a cookie decorating party.  I will be sending home a list of needed party items in a couple of weeks.

This week we will read "A Place to Play."  The genre is realistic fiction that has made-up events that could happen in real life.  Our reading skills are to read the long vowel sounds of y;  sequence events; identify verbs; recognize antonyms, count syllables in words, and practice Saxon Phonics.

In Math we will continue adding and subtracting numbers up to 20.
We will learn about related facts that are called Fact Families. Here is an example of a fact family...
2+4=6
4+2=6
6-2=4
6-4=2

In Science we will investigate objects in the sky.  We will learn facts about the sun, moon and stars.  We will look at pictures of constellations.

In Social Studies we will keep learning about customs and traditions.  We will discuss what traditions our families have during Christmas.

Dec 14 ~ Progress Reports
Dec 20 ~ Movie and Pajama Day

Thanks to all our wonderful parents who sent fruit for our friendship salad!  We had so much fruit and it was delicious.  We shared what we liked about each other and compared our Thanksgiving to those of the Pilgrims and Indians.  Thanks again!

We had a great time sharing and feasting together.  These are a great of students.  They are kind and loving towards each other.  We celebrate when our friends do well.  I am so proud to be their teacher!  :)

Mrs. Miller dropped by to reward students for sharing!

                                      Thanksgiving Lunch!

I was trying to make it to the cafeteria...and I'm sorry that I missed taking pictures of some of the students and their parents eating together.
